Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

This policy explains what information whatismydpi.com (“we”, “us”) collects, how cookies and advertising work on this site, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

The DPI checker

The mouse DPI checker and eDPI calculator run entirely in your browser. Your mouse movement, distances and results are processed on your device only, are not sent to us, and are cleared when you close or reload the page. We do not ask you to create an account.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept only for a limited time.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. This site uses cookies for Google Analytics (see below). We do not use them for advertising at this time.

If we show ads in the future (see below), our advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before these cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The DPI checker works without cookies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit this site and which pages they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, your approximate location, how you reached the site and your IP address. Google processes this information on our behalf. Your DPI checker results and mouse movement are not part of what we send.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics only runs after you accept it in the consent banner. To make this work, we check which country your connection comes from when you start a visit without a saved choice. The result is kept in your browser until you close the tab. Your choice is also saved in your browser, and you can change it at any time with the “Cookie settings” button at the bottom of every page.

You can also opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Advertising

We may use Google AdSense to show ads that help keep this site free. If we do:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Ads are always labeled “Advertisement” and kept separate from the tool and our content.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site, such as links to gaming mice, may be affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This does not change our explanations or recommendations. Affiliate links are labeled where they appear. The store you visit has its own privacy policy and may use its own cookies.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to certain uses of it. Because we hold very little information, the easiest way to exercise these rights is to email us. We will respond within the time the law requires.

Changes

We may update this policy, for example when we enable ads. The date at the top shows the latest version.
