About What is my DPI

What is my DPI is a free tool that answers one question: what DPI is my mouse set to? Many gaming mice switch DPI with a button, the setting is not shown anywhere on screen, and not every mouse comes with software. We wanted a quick way to find out with nothing more than a ruler.

How it works

When you start the test, the page uses your browser's Pointer Lock feature to read the movement your mouse reports. You move the mouse a distance you measured with a real ruler, and the tool divides the movement it counted by that distance in inches. That number is your DPI. Where the browser supports it, the tool asks for raw, unaccelerated movement so your system settings affect the result as little as possible.

What we care about

  • Clear steps. You always know what to do next, and the tool tells you when something looks wrong.
  • Honest results. We show the measured number, the nearest common DPI, and how consistent your attempts are, instead of a single number with false precision.
  • Privacy. The test runs entirely in your browser. No accounts, nothing uploaded.
  • Speed. The page is a small static site with only the JavaScript the tool needs.
